Recent Projects

VIU Racing Tub:
Structural Delamination Repair
Delamination is a boat killer, especially for a racing vessel that takes a beating. We were tasked with restoring the hull-to-deck joint on the VIU entry. This repair required aggressive re-bonding and clamping to ensure peak strength. The project is shown here completed to the “fairing” stage—smooth, seamless, and ready for the finishing booth.

Western Bounty:
Hull Preservation & Barrier Coating
For commercial fishing vessels like the Western Bounty, downtime is not an option. We hauled out this Vancouver-based workhorse to provide a complete below-the-waterline refinish. By applying a high-performance barrier coat, we ensured the hull is sealed against osmotic blistering and corrosion, providing the long-term protection required for the demanding waters of the Pacific Northwest.

Restoring Structural Integrity:
Ladysmith Sailboat Deck Recore
“Soft spots” on a sailboat deck are often a sign of a much deeper problem. For this project in Ladysmith, we uncovered extensive core rot that had compromised the deck’s strength. We performed a complete surgical intervention: removing the damaged fiberglass skin, excavating the rotten core material, and replacing it with high-strength new core. The final result features a fully resealed surface, professional fairing, and a durable epoxy paint finish that looks as solid as it feels.

YVR Fleet Maintenance:
Structural Tank Reinforcement
When a critical component of Vancouver International Airport’s winter fleet faced potential failure, we were called in to provide an industrial-strength solution. The interior support tabbing on these high-capacity saltwater tanks was found to be structurally inadequate for the immense hydraulic pressure they endure. We stripped back the original, “flimsy” fiberglass and replaced it with heavy-duty, reinforced tabbing engineered to withstand the rigors of airport snow removal operations.
He’s an ethical, hard working guy with great knowledge and gets my strong recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of fiberglass projects do you take on?
Do you repair RVs, canoes, or kayaks?
Not typically. While we can assess small fiberglass items on request, repairs for RVs, canoes, and kayaks are usually not cost-effective due to labour and curing time. Our minimum charge is 4 hours ($440).
How much does fiberglass boat repair cost?
Every repair is different, but most fiberglass projects start at $110 per hour with a 4-hour minimum. The final cost depends on the size of the vessel, type of damage, and the number of layers or curing cycles required. Larger or multi-day jobs may qualify for a reduced day rate. We’re always happy to review photos and provide a clear estimate before work begins.
Do you offer mobile or on-site repair?
Yes — Coho Composites is fully equipped for on-site fiberglass repair across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. For major jobs, Clint can travel farther using his mobile workshop van. Travel time is billed hourly.
What areas do you serve?
Our main service area includes Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Cedar, Chemainus, Duncan, and Cowichan Bay. We also travel to the Gulf Islands and other coastal communities for large or long-term projects.
How fast can you respond to emergency repairs?
Emergency repair response depends on scheduling, but Clint prioritizes safety-critical or weather-related damage whenever possible. Call or text (250) 319-3205 for immediate availability.
Do you handle insurance repair work?
Yes. We can provide detailed quotes, documentation, and photos for insurance claims involving storm, impact, or collision damage.
Are you Indigenous-owned?
Yes — Clint Haley is a proud member of the Toquaht First Nation. He one day hopes to expand Coho Composites with a second location in Barclay Sound.
